It's beginning to look a lot
like Christmas, everywhere you go! It's that time of year again. Christmas! And
it looks like Clayton has got the festive spirit, Christmas trees and Christmas
Jumpers! On Friday 12th we all had a non-uniform day, a Christmas inspired one
and there was a lot of effort put in! Especially from some of the teachers. You had to
pay a pound and there you go- Christmas Jumpers everywhere!
T3
However, there is a
bigger picture; the pounds that we Clayton students have paid will be donated
to Charity! After all not everyone is as fortunate as us, so not only have we
had a great day, but hopefully have given someone else a great day as well! So merry
Christmas and a happy new year to all!

Melbourne’s college charity is the North Staffs Adventure Playground and is an independent registered charity, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, which provides a wide range of play, recreational and educational activities and facilities for disabled children, young people and adults.
The playground was first opened in 1989 after a group of parents started to fund raise for their children. Their vision was to provide a safe and stimulating play space for disabled children and their families. There are both indoor and outdoor facilities for people to enjoy no-matter the weather. The children are well looked after with plenty of facilities fitted to their individual needs such as disabled toilets and different activities to strengthen weak bones and muscles.
The staff take time out of their day to care for these children and do not get paid because they are volunteers. Their aid is much appreciated by the disabled children who spend a lot of time there and our college hopes to raise money to support these volunteers.
We chose the Special Adventure Playground as our college charity because their work is life changing for the disabled children and their families. The people work at an inspirational charity which has changed people’s lives for the better since it first opened and they deserve some support for all of their hard work.
As I'm sure you already know, it's only
14 sleeps until Christmas day, and, in my view, one of the best traditions is
to decorate a Christmas tree!
School Foyer
A few teachers have made an impressive effort
in decorating their own trees this year, which I have attached pictures of
below. Although some are better than others, I think Clayton is looking rather
festive!
Science Office
Mrs. Jenning's Tree
I believe that every teacher should bring
in a tree of some kind, unless they are feeling particularly like The Grinch
this year! Even Mr. Pilsel has made an effort by getting his tree… Though it
does looks a little bit dishevelled and has only one strand of tinsel! But the point is, if Mr Pilsel can decorate
one, so can everyone!
Mr Pilsel's Tree
The best tree in the school, I think, is
the one in the library. It's expertly decorated and has Christmas quotes as
baubles!
Library Tree
My favourite has to be that from the Dr. Seuss poem 'The Grinch That
Stole Christmas', which says, 'Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe
christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more!"
If your form can create a tree as good as
Mr. Pilsel's then let us know!
Melbourne is home to the famous Max Wyatt, javelin champion, you can find out more about Max by clicking the top photo (which will lead you to the Sentinel website) or by clicking the bottom video will show you him in action.
Melbourne’s
very own Laura Whalley (M5) won a football medal last Thursday. Her team Stone
Dominoes won 2nd place in a tournament to win the title, ‘best young
girls’ team’ in Stoke. Laura is the captain of the team and led her team to
victory with a 3-1 win, but sadly lost 4-2 on the final game, but managed to
grab second place. She plays central defence - so did not score any goals, but
got her very own certificate and box of chocolates for being the ‘player of the
match’!
Congratulations
Laura, you make Melbourne proud!
Another big
well done to Ruby Watts (M5) who achieved getting a purple belt in kick boxing!
She has been attending kick boxing for 5 years and is only two belts away from
a black belt!
Well done again Ruby!
Even Mr South (M5 form tutor) has been getting sporty! He won two
medals during the holidays for mountain biking; one for coming in 4th
place and the other for coming in 7th place. Unfortunately, on one
race he rode a bit too fast and broke his collar bone (OUCH!).
But well done
anyway sir, keep active!
Do you know anyone else in Melbourne who is sporty? Comment below!
Hey there, this is Reshma Meah and Sarah Rowley! This week in SEAL we have been looking at 'Paying it Forward'. The idea is simple you must respond to a person's kindness by being kind yourself.
Hello bloggers, my name is Alex Mason and I'm one of the
lead bloggers in Melbourne. My job is to inform you all about the latest
happenings in our school and to give you an insight into school life.
Last week was the week of our annual halloween themed
show, Spooktacular. Every year some of our creative and gifted students take
part in the performance and I was lucky enough to be involved in the three
concerts this year.
Welcome
to the new and very exciting Melbourne Blog! Together we have decided on our special
roles within our college. A few weeks ago, Mr Porter received several applications to become a lead blogger! Although all the applications were
very unique and interesting, eventually three lead bloggers were chosen.
